My name is Alexander, but my friends call me Alex.
A long time ago, I think I was about 7, 8 or 9 years old, I saw the movie Tron. In the movie, they all where talking about "users" and "programs". As a little boy without english knowledge, I didn't understood the english word "user". So I asked my dad what a "user" is. He explained, that users are the people who create computer software. In the context of the movie, this was correct. But nowadays, users use programs, developers create programs. But at this early times, it did not matter at all. I answered to my dad: "When I'm grown up I want to be a user too"...
A few years later, I forgot about "Tron". But my education went into that direction. Now I'm a graduate software engineer (in Germany, one would say "Diplom Informatiker (FH) - Software Engineering", which is a 4 year engineer degree).
I'm started programming with "QBasic" in 1992 and using linux in 1998. Now I'm programming with JAVA since end of 2003 and developed a few open source tools and libs. A few of them are shown on this website.
